Hangover Saturdays! On the back foot a little bit, but we’re getting there! I’m feeling especially smug as I have been out drinking twice and still haven’t smoked. Being out with fellow smokers is absolutely a trigger so I am feeling like I have definitely got somewhere with this.

Cafe OPEN Friday 24th January 12.30 – 18.00. Today’s Menu.

Welcome to Friday, the end of the conventional working week! I don’t hang around with many 9-5ers and I now work Saturday’s but there is still something satisfactory about Fridays 🙂 As the ritualistic retox of the weekend begins, remember to keep on drinking plenty of water and give your liver a kickstart on Saturday morning with hot water and lemon. I am a bit short on internet for the time being so the menu posts are a bit shorter. Please bear with me!

Cafe OPEN Thursday 23rd January 12.30 – 18.00. Today’s Menu.

Wow! Thursday came around quickly, something about starting the working week on a Tuesday makes it seem so much shorter.  My days have been lost in dreaming up menus for Valentine’s and Mother’s Day. There will be a separate post about these events later today. So how are we feeling? I’m on 8 smoke free days, having become addicted to smoking in my early 30s after a brief flirtation with it at school, this has been a toughie. Simply because I enjoy smoking, I love the ritual of lighting up a menthol(has to be menthol for me) cigarette, sitting back and exhaling my worries away slowly. However the tightness in my chest and breathlessness was becoming a concern so I thought now was a good as time as any. Obviously there has been a cash benefit, cigarettes are blooming expensive now! Although it has only been 8 days, I am already breathing easier and taking the hills on my bike much more in my stride.

A bullet point ode to berries and their benefits!

  • STRAWBERRIES FOR A BETTER BOWEL
  • BLACKBERRIES TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR MEMORY
  • REDCURRANTS TO LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE
  • GOJIS FOR A NATURAL ENERGY BOOST
  • RASPBERRIES FOR HEALTHY JOINTS
  • CRANBERRIES FOR  A HAPPY TUMMY

Don’t forget – Lindyhop Social this Sunday 26th January, if you have never been to Lindyhop before and have always fancied giving it a go, come along everyone is welcome. More info here or drop me a line.

Cafe OPEN Wednesday 22nd January 12.30 – 18.00. Today’s Menu. Lindy Hop Social. Valentines.

Happy Humpday! I hope you are picking up the pace, aiming to do at least one thing to either benefit or better you. I am feeling pretty pleased that I haven’t caned the house-warming booze leftovers! Drinking levels are receding back to pre-festive season and waking up is getting easier!

A good time then to mention then citrulline, an amnio acid that is reported to help the liver and kidneys filter. The more we can help our organs function properly, the better we will feel. You can find this amino in cucumber which is the main ingredient of the detox refresher served in the café today. Other sources include watermelon. Both are very easy to eat or incorporate in your diet, get on it today!
