Cafe OPEN Wednesday 26th February 12.30 – 18.00 Today’s Menu. Sleepy-Time Smoothie!

Here is humpday! I seem to be struggling with poor sleeping patterns again. No doubt in some part to do with birthday excess, oops! I’m researching more into the benefits of certain foods and cherries are purported to help you snooze. this is because they contain melatonin which is a substance which naturally occurs in the body that regulates sleep patterns. I’m going big guns on this though as getting 4 hours a night is effecting my mood, concentration and motivation. Introducing a couple of more heroes – bananas and oats contain tryptophan which is a precursor to serotonin (a bonus mood boost) and melatonin, the aforementioned sleep inducer. Bananas, oats and cherries are an essential part of your post-party and festival survival kit!

Sleepy-Time/Recovery Smoothie

  • Handful of oats preferably soaked for a few hours (either in diary milk more tryptophan, non-dairy milk such as almond or water)
  • A cup of cherries (I use frozen)
  • One banana
  • Throw all the ingredients into a blender and add in water or milk of your choice to reach your desired consistency.

I’m going to be trialing this for the rest of the week so I will let you know if I see an improvement!

February is the month of birthdays it seems, last night saw the first of my friends celebrate their wonderfullness, 1 down, so many more to go! It’s like Christmas but much better, a birthday is about celebrating you and how brilliant you are. Make the most of it and get people to do what YOU want, be a birthday diva!

A review from a happy customer last night –  This evening I enjoyed an array of nutritious comfort foods at Beccy’s, including rich potato & cheddar soup, stuffed potato skin cooked just right, and a delicious salad dressed with garlic & lemon infused oil. Then dessert of sumptuous rum truffle AND a rose & cardamom chocolate heart surprise, just in time for Valentine’s day!
I ❤ Beccy’s Global Kitchen.. and Beccy

Whilst I know I am not changing the world, this kind of feedback definitely makes my job worthwhile 🙂

Yesterday a customer told me the soup was ‘incredible’ yay! That makes it all worthwhile 🙂 I hope your week is going well and good things are happening for you. I think January was a tough month for a lot of us, so with the optimism of spring in the air let’s do great things! I’m trying to keep a cold at bay with a tasty remedy made by a friend’s mum. Elderberry cordial thick, syrupy and for a cold remedy tasting pretty good too. I will endeavour to get the recipe and share it with you. It is far superior to Lemsip! It’s always worth upping your vitamin C intake if you are feeling run down, citrus fruit in hot water is not only a great liver tonic but will give those vit c levels a friendly boost. If you can handle it crushing and swallowing a raw clove of immune system boosting garlic will do wonders too, I am a bit wussy in this respect and instead finely grate a clove onto my food or in a salad dressing.
