Here is humpday! I seem to be struggling with poor sleeping patterns again. No doubt in some part to do with birthday excess, oops! I’m researching more into the benefits of certain foods and cherries are purported to help you snooze. this is because they contain melatonin which is a substance which naturally occurs in the body that regulates sleep patterns. I’m going big guns on this though as getting 4 hours a night is effecting my mood, concentration and motivation. Introducing a couple of more heroes – bananas and oats contain tryptophan which is a precursor to serotonin (a bonus mood boost) and melatonin, the aforementioned sleep inducer. Bananas, oats and cherries are an essential part of your post-party and festival survival kit!
- Handful of oats preferably soaked for a few hours (either in diary milk more tryptophan, non-dairy milk such as almond or water)
- A cup of cherries (I use frozen)
- One banana
- Throw all the ingredients into a blender and add in water or milk of your choice to reach your desired consistency.
I’m going to be trialing this for the rest of the week so I will let you know if I see an improvement!
